DAY 3 OF THE FORMULA KITE YOUTH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
A TASTE OF PARIS 2024 WITH THE HARD-FOUGHT GOLD SILVER FLIGHTS
THE FINALS LIVE WORLDWIDE FROM 13:45

Saturday 21 and Sunday 22
Talks on sport, sea and sustainability and food and wine village.

An afternoon of top-level racing for the young athletes chasing titles at the Formula Kite Youth World Championship 2022. The U21 men’s fleets were divided into Gold and Silver Fleets. At the end of the evening, with a very rich Protest Time still in progress, the Gold ranking remained unchanged compared to yesterday with Maximilian Maeder, athlete from Singapore, who remains ahead, with a very short gap, of the Italian Riccardo Pianosi. In third place is China’s Qibin Huang.
In the U21 women’s classification, the tight racing continues between Israel, in the lead with Maya Ashkenazi and Gal Zuckerman, followed by the Polish flag bearer Julia Damasiewc. Italy’s Sofia Tommasoni maintained her 7th position in the ranking. In the A’s Youth, Switzerland’s Gian Andrea Giannotti continues to hold his supremacy followed by team Poland’s Jan Kozowsky and Jakub Balewicz.

Here are the updated rankings that will be final for this day at the conclusion of Protest Time: https://formulakite.org

What took place today in Torre Grande, with the world kite foil sails very close to the beach, was a scenario characterised by inconstant wind shifts and a very high technical level among the athletes.”The weather conditions were extremely challenging for the race committee, the wind shifted direction in several situations and then shifted to the classic Mistral thermal so as to complete the day’s programme with the usual 16 races,” is the comment of Sergio Cantagalli sports director of the Formula Kite Youth World Championship 2022.The spectacle being experienced at Torre Grande these days is a preview of Paris 2024, when kiteboarding will fully enter the Olympic Games and the first five-circle regattas will be held in the Gulf of Marseille. In fact, the Under-21, 17 and 15 athletes follow the same rules that will be observed at the Olympic Games in two years’ time.

Live streaming. Starting at 13:45 on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22, the final stages of this great World Youth Kiteboarding Championships can be followed live with technical commentary in English on the social channels @ owc_oristano @ sardegnaterraemare and @ formula kite.
